Bills starting QB Ryan Fitzpatrick made an appearance on SiriusXM NFL Radio Wednesday and was asked for his thoughts on the addition of fellow QB Vince Young.
Fitzpatrick explained how Bills GM Buddy Nix filled him in onYoung before the signing even took place.
“Buddy Nix has been a guy that has been very fair to all his players, he’s been a guy who’s been trying to create a competitive atmosphere,” said Fitzpatrick. ”Buddy caught me in the hallway one day and said, ‘Look, we’re looking to create some competition for that number two spot at quarterback, we are bringing in Vince Young. We made him an offer. We’ll see if he comes. But just to let you know, obviously, you are our guy and we are just trying to get better at every position.’
“When people are upfront and honest with you and telling you what is going on, then it makes everything go much smoother. And for me, I’m a guy that’s got to go out there and perform, and I know that, just like every quarterback in the league knows that. I met Vince the other day and he seems like a really good guy.”

Vince Young has been to Ralph Wilson Stadium a couple of times in his career with his most noteworthy game coming on Dec. 24th, 2006 when he and the Titans faced the Bills in Week 16.
Down 29-20 in the fourth quarter Young rallied the Titans back to win 30-29. Part of that deficit was made up with a Young 29-yard touchdown pass. At the close of the first half he also had a 36-yard touchdown run. He finished the game 13-20 for 183 yards and a pair of TD passes along with his rushing score.
What Young remembers most about that game however, is how tough the fans were on him before, during and after the game.
“The biggest thing was the fans,” Young told Buffalobills.com. ”I remember our bus getting egged and thing s like that and it shows you what the atmosphere is here and how much the fans really love their team. I’m just happy to be a part of it now. There are some great guys on this team and great coaches. I’m ready to get in here and get to work and help out in any way I can.”

Bills RB Fred Jackson got his mom a very early and very big Mother’s Day gift this year. He didn’t leave his dad out though.
After giving his mom and dad a new home, which was completely paid off, Jackson had another surprise for his father.
“He also gave my husband a truck,” said Fred’s mother Latricia. ”The thing is when they gave us the house, my husband just kind of stood there in shock and then Fredrick said, ‘Come here dad.’ And we go out in front of the house and he said, ‘That’s your truck!’ You know when you see those people win a house and they go crazy, well that truck got my husband jumping up and down.”
To say that Jackson’s mom loves her new home would be an understatement.
“At work I have it as a screensaver,” she said. ”I show it to people when they come into the store. People say, ‘Oh my God why are you still working?’ I tell them because I want to. I was a stay-at-home mom for 14 years and I’m not ready to do that again.”
